Becoming active on social media can be a daunting task, but with a little planning and some helpful tools you can create an actionable strategy. During this session we will outline steps you can take to dominate social media. Whether your goal is to attract more candidates to fill your staffing needs, drive census, build brand awareness within the local community, or all of the above, social media can be a cost-effective way to spread the word and achieve meaningful results.

This session will cover a variety of topics pertaining to gun-related compliance, risk-management, and planning both for governmental and private facilities, including compliance with the Kansas Personal and Family Protection Act, compliance with federal requirements related to gun safety and active-shooter situations, and best practice concerning staff and patient possession and storage of guns.

This session will cover a variety of topics related to HIPAA and data privacy compliance – a refresher on the HIPAA basics; Office for Civil Rights (OCR) enforcement and settlements; business associates; personal representatives, guardians, and healthcare durable powers of attorney; social media and online comments; subpoenas; and ransomware.

In this session, the Office of the Kansas State Fire Marshal will provide updates on exciting changes at the State Fire Marshal’s Office and discuss construction, renovations, and remodels and when KSFM notification is required.

This presentation will review the current regulatory field for state license only adult care homes in Kansas including frequently cited tags, common non-compliance misconceptions, introductions to state licensure and regulatory team. It will also cover several licensure, certification and enforcement topics including: initial licensure, change of information, change of ownership, management companies, enforcement remedies, closure, discharge reporting and continue care retirement communities.

On March 14, 2025, a wildfire nearly burnt the Yates Center Health and Rehab building to the ground.  In this session, staff from Mission Health will walk us through the experience that day, including the successful execution of a full evacuation, the lessons they learned, and how the event is changing their emergency planning going forward.

In this 50-minute session, Chuck and Robbie will share tips for identifying realistic hazards for your area, the best tools to use, and what to do with this knowledge. Participants will then engage in a facilitated group exercise to build out a mock Hazard Vulnerability Analysis (HVA).

In this 50-minute session, Chuck and Robbie will identify the key components of a tabletop exercise and discuss when to use a tabletop, how to design one, and how to lead an effective facilitation to capture realistic opportunities for improvement. Building on the HVA from the previous session, participants will engage in a group activity to design a simple tabletop exercise.

Navigating the intricate maze of Quality Assurance, Performance Improvement (QAPI) can feel daunting for many nursing home administrators. The complexities, the bulky guidelines, the challenge of where and how to commence, it often leaves even the most seasoned professionals overwhelmed. But what if there was a way to simplify it all?

The PBJ system requires facilities to report hours worked by all employees in certain categories, including direct care staff, administrative staff, and contract staff. This data is then used to calculate a staffing ratio that is compared to CMS standards for the level of care provided. Facilities must submit PBJ reports quarterly, and the data is used to determine a facility's rating under the Five-Star Quality Rating System.
